Temporary exhibition at the Galerie St-Hilaire
FLUX is the second exhibition of the Dutch painter Jan van der Ploeg (*1959) presented by Galerie St-Hilaire. This exhibition highlights a selection of the artist's recent works.
Whether monumental and linked to architecture or created on the traditional canvas support, like the works in the FLUX exhibition, van der Ploeg's paintings are characterized by the use of bold geometric patterns and vibrant, contrasting colors.
Recognized for his distinctive style of dynamic pop abstraction, the artist surprises us with his use of colors and their juxtaposition, which respond more to an instinctive choice than to strict chromatic rules.
His preferred shapes include straight lines, arcs, circles, and angular forms, creating a constant interplay of symmetry and asymmetry, fullness and emptiness. Through their repetition, networking, and interweaving, they evoke a sense of movement and rhythm, fluidity, and visual vibration. His acrylic paintings are exceptionally precise and finely crafted, with a striking luminosity.
Opening on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 6 PM in the presence of the artist.
