Temporary exhibition by H.-J. Glattfelder and Bruno Munari at Galerie St-Hilaire
The new exhibition at Galerie St-Hilaire presents works by Swiss artist H.J. Glattfelder in dialogue with original works by the renowned Italian designer and graphic artist Bruno Munari (1907-1998).
Singular, like the talent of Bruno Munari, who throughout his life maintained his capacity for wonder and freshness, as evidenced by his diverse and innovative creations.
Singular, like the spirit of H.J. Glattfelder, who is able to integrate philosophical and aesthetic concepts into his reflections and embody them in his works.
Plural, like the approaches of these two artists who met and appreciated each other in Milan in the 1970s, both attentive to a plurality of perspectives—literal and figurative—ensuring rationality, openness, and renewal.
Singular Plural, finally, like the complementary or paradoxical principles whose juxtaposition Munari loved, as seen in his "Macchine Inutili."
The exhibition brings together a collection of works by Hans Jörg Glattfelder, from his pyramid reliefs to his recent works, and original works by Bruno Munari, spanning from 1935 to 1995.
Vernissage on Thursday, August 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the presence of H.J. Glattfelder. Presentation at 6 p.m. by Thomas Haemmerli, author and editor of the recent publication "Kreis! Quadrat! Progress! Zürichs konkrete Avantgarde," Scheidegger & Spiess 2024.
