“SADHANA” literally translated from Sanskrit means ‘spiritual practice’. This notion of regular daily personal practice refers to the asceticism that enables progress on the path of yoga or spiritual development. The show showcases the magic, mysticism and power of the Banarasi tradition. Its distinctive feature is the blend of concert music and dance with the versatility and ethnic mix of the performers, each a virtuoso in his or her own discipline.
The show is divided into two parts. Enjoy a tabla and clarinet solo, immersing yourself in the beauty and sensitivity of a raaga, before letting yourself be carried away by the percussive, graceful and devotional dance of Gauri Priscilla Brülhart.
Born in Fribourg, Gauri Priscilla Brülhart is a multi-award-winning virtuoso of kathak dance (classical Indian dance). She is a disciple of Pt Ravi Shankar Mishra, the world's leading exponent of Benares dance. She is accompanied for Sadhana by the young Abhisheck Mishra, who accompanies the most renowned musicians, and by Damien Converset, a seasoned clarinettist who brings a touch of jazz to this classical Indian trio. To be enjoyed without moderation.
