Ernesto Bär and Birgit Kantowski are exhibiting watercolours and figures from 7 to 22 December. It will be their last exhibition ever.
Birgit Kantowski has lived and worked in Lugnorre for twenty years. She was introduced to painting as a child by her highly talented father, Franz Kantowski, who received scholarships at the art academies in Hamburg and Brandenburg and studied at the Folkwankschule in Essen. Since 1965 she has attended courses in nude, perspective and charcoal drawing, in colour composition, as well as in pastel and watercolour painting at the University and ETH Zurich and the Zurich School of Artistic Design.
In his current exhibition, Ernesto Baer is showing a selection of his most beautiful and atmospheric watercolours from his mature years. After almost 60 years of artistic activity and numerous exhibitions, he too is exhibiting for the last time at the Pellegrini Gallery. Nature "with its tender indifference" will always remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration for him. And even if his pictures are only able to capture a fraction of its mysterious beauty, he hopes that some viewers will be touched by them. Ernesto Baer describes himself as a painting philosopher. He is a romantic, loves literature and poetry. Poems also accompany him when he paints; they help him to create lively pictures that convey a mood and touch.
