This trail runs along the lakeshores of Schwarzsee with a view over the Kaiseregg, Spitzfluh and Schwyberg hills to Schwarzsee Bad. When the ice is thick enough, you can even make a short cross-country skiing excursion to the mountain lake.

Schwarzseebad–Schwarzseebad
As one of the most romantic routes right next to the Schwarzsee, it offers you the chance to glide through snowy landscapes and savour the calm, away from all the hustle and bustle. The three-kilometre trail runs from the Hostellerie am Schwarzsee to the Hotel Bad, where it briefly follows the Seeweidbach before turning back to the start in a loop. The relatively flat trail winds along the bank, crossing fields and clearings.
According to legend, the water of the Schwarzsee became as dark as it is because a giant bathed its feet in it one day. But in the winter, the dark water is impossible to see, because at depth of just 10 metres, the lake is often frozen over. Sometimes the layer of ice is so thick that you can create an entirely new path – a unique experience! Winter sports enthusiasts in training can take advantage of an unforgettable view over the Fribourg Pre-Alps. The Kaiseregg, perched on the east bank, proudly dominates the majestic lake. To the south, the summit of the Spitzfluh reaches up to the sky while the slopes of the Schwyberg dominate to the west.
Even beginners will find the easy terrain offers ideal conditions for their first attempts on cross-country skis. If you fancy a break, you have the choice of five Schwarzsee restaurants. All are close to the cross-country skiing trail.
