The Capuchins came in 1608, during the catholic Reformation, to Fribourg and the builder Abraham Cotti erected (1613-1617) the monastery.
A notable feature of the church, consecrated to St. Mary Magdalena, is the ensemble of three Rococo retables (1772) and a monumental oil painting, Lamentation of Christ. (cf Schöpfer guide)
