The church of St. Michael's College is an imposing building built in late Gothic style between 1606 and 1613.
The first mass was celebrated in 1610. The church was radically transformed in the 18th century, becoming a masterpiece of rococo style. The bulbous roof dome is probably the first of its kind in Switzerland. The College of the Jesuits is the most important site of gothicisant style early seventeenth Switzerland. The Church is one of the most ambitious orders at the time of the Counter-Réforme.
The founder of St. Michael's College Pierre Canisius.
