Vestige of the network of fixed points dating back to the 19th century for the first survey of the Swiss territory
The framework is the remains of an extensive network of fixed points established at the end of the 19th century to carry out the first survey of the Swiss territory. This system served as a three-dimensional reference framework, especially for land registry management. A total of eighty pyramids were built across Switzerland. Around sixty remain today, including five in the canton of Fribourg. The best known stand on the peaks of the Berra and Moléson mountains, while others are more discreet and often go unnoticed. One is in Lovens, and the last two are in Middes, one in the heart of the village and one on the summit of Mont Vully. The oldest pyramid, erected in 1905, is located on the summit of La Berra.
