A 55 km loop that takes in the Fribourg countryside without climbing too high.
FR55 is a gravel course in the canton of Fribourg, starting and finishing at ETAPE, Marly.
With 55 km and 1,000 metres of ascent, it's a more accessible and “easy” alternative to the G175 and FR100. You'll still find some magnificent singletrails, easily accessible by gravel. Much of the route is exclusively on gravel paths, with very little road!
The climbs are fairly short and dynamic - the route stays below 750 meters altitude, which means it can be ridden later in the season in autumn and earlier in spring.
The challenge:
You must start and finish during ETAPE opening hours. Follow the GPX track and upload your route to Strava for ranking. Electric bikes are allowed, but do not count towards the challenge.
It's possible to ride in a group and qualify together - as the course is rolling, this brings a clear advantage of not being alone.
You don't need to register, but it would be appreciated if you'd let ETAPE staff know in advance so we can keep track of you.
Tips:
The course was created with the following bike:
Scott Addict Gravel
Zipp 353 NSW gravel wheels
Pirelli RC tubeless tires, 45 mm/40mm
Look road pedals
Possible with smaller tires (38-42cc), but road bikes are not recommended - mountain bikes are possible, but will be slower.
