To escape oppression and a haunting past, Shewit flees Eritrea at the risk of her life. At the age of 15, after being captured by human traffickers in Libya, she finally reaches Switzerland, the country in which she places all her hopes. But seven years later, she still does not have a residence permit, and her fate remains suspended on the decision of the authorities…
A migrant in limbo, threatened with expulsion, Shewit perseveres and fights to realise her dream: to become a free woman. A struggle for her emancipation, filmed over ten years under the empathetic gaze of filmmaker Anne-Frédérique Widmann.
