Exhibition
The exhibition Fribourg·Art·Archives. La Ville s'expose (Fribourg·Art·Archives. The City on Display), presented by the Fribourg City Archives in collaboration with the Department of Culture, invites visitors to discover the richness and diversity of the heritage collections of the City and Bourgeoisie of Fribourg.
The exhibition highlights rarely exhibited pieces, some of which have never been seen before. Their juxtaposition reveals the central role of the municipality as a cultural actor, patron and guardian of heritage. It also shows how art interacts with history and shapes the image of the city in a lasting way.
Organized into nine thematic sections arranged in chronological order, the exhibition traces the major stages in the history of the capital of Fribourg, from the emergence of municipal institutions to contemporary artistic expressions, including urban planning, creativity, and tourism.
Fribourg·Art·Archives affirms a simple but essential conviction: archives and works of art do not freeze the past, they nourish the present and engage our responsibility towards the future.
