Electronic concert
With the release of their fifth studio album Elsewhere last September, the German-Swiss duo Grandbrothers returns to the stage with a renewed sound, an expanded live performance, and a scenography of textures and movement. For the past 10 years, Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel have been exploring the sonic territories of the piano to push its boundaries, brilliantly marrying electronic and neo-classical music, providing powerful and atmospheric instrumental escapades. You may have already heard them in the film Hors Normes (closing film Cannes 2019), with their sublime track Bloodflow or during their memorable concert specially designed for Cologne Cathedral (2022).
Their new album Elsewhere marks the arrival of analogue synthesizers and drum machines, as well as a more pronounced sense of movement on stage. While opening a new chapter, the duo remains true to its identity, which it refines here with increased mastery.
Their live performances unfold like a single piece. It all begins with an immersion in their contemplative and poetic universe: delicate melodies in constant motion, interspersed with a discreet tension. Then the music gains in breadth and intensity, becoming more ethereal, more powerful, more swirling, until it reaches a luminous and liberating finale. A journey oscillating between shadow and light, fragility and momentum, transforming turbulence into movement.
