Initiation au handpan

FriYoga
Rue St-Pierre 5

Discovering the instrument

Handpan initiation workshops are open to everyone and are designed to explore the instrument in a playful and sensory way, through hands-on discovery, learning basic techniques, rhythmic and melodic playing, and first experiences of improvisation, with no musical background required.

What you will discover during the workshop:
- Introduction to the instrument: the history, characteristics and sound of the handpan.
- First practical experience: learning how to touch the instrument and how to produce different sounds.
- Basic techniques: an introduction to striking techniques, simple rhythms and the tactile approach to playing the handpan.
- Musical exploration: first steps into improvisation and group playing when several participants are present.

Format & practical information:
All instruments are provided on site, so there is no need to own a handpan.
Workshops are generally held in small groups, encouraging exchange, hands-on practice and shared musical experience.
After the initiation workshop, participants can discuss options for individual lessons, group courses or more in-depth workshops with the teacher.
