The Choir In illo tempore sings one of the most famous masses by the composer whom his contemporaries called the prince of musicians: his Missa de Beata Virgine from 1510. The music of Josquin Desprez carries both great spirituality and an extraordinary vital force, balanced between heaven and earth. Deeply rooted and with great contrapuntal virtuosity, it transports the body, heart, and mind. The choir is accompanied by four soloists in this programme, which also includes motets dedicated to the Virgin and improvised organ pieces.
