The run takes place on the first Sunday of October. This great classic brings together around 10'000 participants every year.
The history of the run:
In 1746, the Confederates won a brilliant victory over Charles the Bold in Murten. According to the legend, a harbinger ran from Murten to Fribourg with the branch of a limetree in his hand to announce the Swiss victory. That event is commemorated every autumn with a race that attracts thousands of runners from all around the world since 1933.
