For over a decade, queer artist Mykki Blanco has made a name for himself on the international stage by deconstructing the codes of hip-hop and pop art. Blending rave, trap, grunge, and punk influences, he shapes a hybrid, abrasive, and profoundly liberating body of work. He has forged a unique path since his native California, where he published his first rap tracks on social media as a teenager. Gradually, the artist has asserted himself in a genre historically marked by misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia, affirming a unique and influential voice that has led him to collaborate with the likes of Blood Orange, Madonna, and Woodkid, who produced his debut album.
On September 4, the artist will unveil his new album Café Paradiso on Transgressive Records. Mykki Blanco is reborn completely in this work, trading the theatrical staging focused on character from his previous albums for something more intimate. With 12 tracks (two of which have already been revealed!), this album offers numerous escapades through transitional spaces, where time stretches and individuals detach from reality. The album draws inspiration from the varied, mundane, yet unique contexts of the artist's ever-moving life. From these life fragments, he creates a soundtrack for queer flâneurs, where moving alone does not necessarily mean feeling alone.Café Paradiso thus confirms Mykki Blanco's position as a multifaceted artist who fully masters his current form, synthesising years of experimentation.
On stage, Mykki Blanco transforms the concert into a total experience, creating a space for physical, political, and emotional communion. With a blend of club energy, punk performance, and suspended moments of grace, Blanco leads the audience on a journey that is as cathartic as it is liberating, where excess meets the intimate, propelled by a magnetic presence and rare intensity.
