Temporary exhibition at the Natural History Museum
With the temporary exhibition “Bis bald Baleine!”, the Natural History Museum of Fribourg invites the public to experience a moment that is as tender and joyful as it is original, a true declaration of love for the museum’s great star: its taxidermy whale. However, this time, it is not the museum telling its story. It is its admirers. Young and old, coming from all over the canton – and even beyond – have created a miniature version of their favourite giant of the seas during a creative competition. The result: a collective tribute to this emblematic figure that has accompanied the people of Fribourg for over 140 years. A way to say goodbye before reuniting with her in her new home port.
Nearly 120 miniature whales testify to the public's love for the original.
