International ice hockey competition
Bringing together the 16 best nations on the planet, the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is the highlight of the year, with the biggest stars taking part. In 2026, it will be held in Switzerland from 15 to 31 May, in Zurich and Fribourg, which will be the smallest host city in the history of the championship in the 21st century. Fribourg 2026, Association Events & Legacy, Switzerland was created to support the competition’s organising committee. The Fribourg ice rink will host 30 matches, including two quarter-finals.
