Gourmet tour in town
As part of the Taste my Swiss Cities campaign of Switzerland Tourism, Fribourg has also created a food tour : Taste my Fribourg ! Do not miss this gourmet walk which is a mix between a city tour and a culinary tasting! Based on the city’s main discovery route, this food tour will take you through the narroy streets of Fribourg, while offering you tasting breaks in places that are as much traditional as trendy.
This tour not only invites you to a great gastronomic experience, but also gives you the opportunity to discover the gems of Fribourg and meet the people of the area. Did you know that in Fribourg they speak Bolze? Ask around as soon as you are out for a walk in Fribourg!
To start the visit properly, you will be given documents:
- A small backpack stamped with the colours of the city
- Villars chocolate (manufactured in the city of Fribourg)
- The Fribourg City Card (including public transports and access to various activities
during or after the Food Tour!)
Le Point commun is a coffee bar with a warm and friendly atmosphere, offering many specialities
and regional products from different local partners. Sensitive to the ecological wave, the coffee bar also offers
“sustainable” solutions with reusable containers for both coffee and small catering.

As a starter, a hot drink served with a mini cuchaule (saffron bread, speciality of Fribourg)
“Thirty-somethings love good beer” translated from “Les Trentenaires aime la bonne bière” is the trendy name of
this bar restaurant located at the top of the Rue de Lausanne, a tourist and commercial street of the city. Installed in an old
pharmacy with some vintage elements, this place with its ultra-stylish decor offers a whole bunch of local and traditional
beers from all over the world, as well as syrups and other lemonades.
Delight to taste:
As aperitif, a traditional Fribourg beer and a tasty plate of Fribourg cheeses (Gruyère and Vacherin)
The Marchands Merciers combine a tourist information centre, a shop specialised in local products
of Fribourg and cultural activities. They also act as a café and offer you small meals all day long,
pastries, hot and mineral drinks. This info point, located a stone’s throw from the famous St. Nicholas Cathedral, is
open every day.

A thirst-quenching drink: a “homemade” syrup, apple juice or simply a cup of coffee
Nestled in the heart of Fribourg’s Old Town, the “Brasserie de l’Épée” is a bistronomic restaurant with a warm, lively atmosphere and an elaborate menu. The menu features seasonal dishes made from fresh ingredients of unrivalled quality.
Delight to taste:
The main course: the daily menu and a glass of Fribourg wine.
Dessert: a homemade dessert and a coffee

The tour costs CHF 75.00 per person including 1 meal and/or drink in each above-mentionned location. A Fribourg City Card of a value of CHF 20.– is included for free.
The card gives you access to museums, various activities and free access to public transports, including the Funicular!
