Located at N ° 1 of the street of the Canons, in the historic heart of the district of the Village and nearby immediate of the cathedral St Nicholas, the former school realized after the plans of P. Grégoire Girard ( 1765-1850 ), become House of Justice ( 1907 ), welcomes in particular, since spring, 2005, the Archives of the City of Fribourg, as well as the Power plant of microfilms.
The public sector is opened, by appointment, to every person declining its identity and the object of its research. A space of consultation is at disposal of the researchers - space also accessible to the people with reduced mobility - including five working places, as well as a library concerning mainly the local and regional history, the home loan being however excluded.
The archives of the City are open, by appointment, according to the following schedule:
From Tuesday till Thursday, from 08.30 am till 11.30 am and from 2.00 pm till 5.00 pm
(before the festive days closure at 4 pm / annual closure between Christmas and New Year).
