A thousand years of Fribourg's art and history located in a Renaissance palazzo, a former abattoir and a romantic garden. The museum offers you a rich and fascinating program of temporary exhibitions.
Spread over three old buildings in the town of Fribourg, the museum has a magnificent garden in front of it adorned with monumental sculptures by Saint Phalle, Luginbühl, Ramseyer, Wiggli and Angéloz.
Among the museum's many displays you will find a collection of local archaeology, objects presenting Fribourg's political and cultural life and sculptures and paintings from the 11th to the 20th centuries.
The Art and History Museum is located near the Espace Jean Tinguely - Niki de Saint Phalle and Saint Nicholas cathedral.
The garden is open to all, this area is ideal for a break during your visit to the city; you can recharge your batteries before setting off to explore the Bourg district!
Sun loungers are also available for visitors and can be rented at the MAHF reception desk for a small rental fee of CHF 3.00 (during museum opening hours). Free for museum visitors.
