Protestant Parish of Châtel-St-Denis – La Veveyse

The Protestant Parish of Châtel-St-Denis – La Veveyse covers all the villages in the district of La Veveyse.

It is notably present in all primary schools as well as in the Orientation Cycle for catechism. The parish is part of the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Fribourg. It is rich in projects and activities for all ages, and we warmly welcome new ideas. Please feel free to contact one of our leaders.

Our History

1846 Foundation of the Protestant community of Romont, which counted 140 parishioners. 1877 The Protestant school is established in the parish house. 1884 The communities of Bulle and Romont unite. 1932 The Bulle-Romont parish is integrated into the Fribourg Reformed Church. 1951 Foundation of the Romont – Châtel-St-Denis parish. 1979 Establishment of a diaconal position in Châtel-St-Denis. 1989 Transformation of the diaconal position into a pastoral position. 1993 With various supports, purchase of the disused farm of Gottau, in Châtel-St-Denis. 1996 Inauguration of the Gottau parish center. 2001 Creation of the Châtel-St-Denis – La Veveyse parish.
