The certification encompasses the national guidelines. It ensures the same standards for all regional ‘Terroir’ brands. It applies to the marketing of products of plant and animal origin, as well as drinking water, spring water and mineral water from supra-regional brands.

The promises of a certified product
- Proximity
Creating a bond of trust between certified farmers and consumers. Proximity means 100% Fribourg products, or 80 % for processed, and less transport.
- Authenticity
Whether the products are traditional or new, their authenticity is guaranteed, reflecting age-old regional know-how.
- Quality
Agricultural products from Fribourg are a guarantee of quality. Freshness, diversity and taste, respect for the environment and the rejection of genetically modified plants and animals.
- Traceability
Allowing proper and secure control of the production chain. Traceability means controlling the visibility of products from field to plate.
- Transparency
Guarantee that the labelling on your products reflects reality and earns the trust of consumers.
Les avantages du label “fribourg-regio.garantie”
The label aims for a uniform standard as well as specific requirements for the production, processing and trading of regional products in compliance with the guidelines for French-speaking Switzerland and national requirements.
Being part of the ‘terroir’ guarantees a defined origin and added value, and contributes to the promotion and economic health of our region. The end consumer is looking for a guarantee of quality and reliable traceability in a controlled product. They want to be reassured that they know exactly what they are consuming, as do distributors, who are increasingly demanding this so that they can sell your products with complete transparency. It is now possible to have such a guarantee thanks to the acquisition of a strict and reliable control system set up by the ICO.
What’s more, certifying a product allows you to showcase your expertise in a market where there is now an abundance of products. Certification lends a special credibility to your production, knowing that it is set up by a regional guarantee mark and controlled by an intercantonal certification body. Labelling means showing your company values, which are authentic, respectful and your know-how labelled on your products. Certification brings real added value and the transparency that end consumers and distributors are looking for. The Association pour la promotion des Produits du Terroir du Pays de Fribourg helps its members with the certification process. In addition to financial support, we aim to put in place various communications and promotions around certified products.
We guarantee uniformity of treatment and impartiality, as well as the suppression of fraud.
Use of the label
The “Fribourg – regio.garantie” certification label may only be used by an individual member who meets the following conditions:
- Must have paid the annual membership fee to the Association pour la Promotion des Produits du Terroir.
- Has passed the certification test
- The label may only be used on products.
