Friends of the Terroir Club

The Terroir Fribourg Association aims to undertake, coordinate, and support appropriate measures for promoting Fribourg’s agricultural products, both within the canton and beyond its borders.

To enhance the association’s visibility and increase the resources available for promotional activities, the idea of creating a “Friends of the Terroir” club emerged as an obvious choice. This club allows the association to have ambassadors across various economic sectors while simultaneously boosting the budget to implement further promotional initiatives.

“Fribourg” and “Terroir”—two magical words that bring a sparkle to the eyes of every Fribourgeois who speaks them. Two words that are virtually synonymous and profoundly authentic.

Terroir represents roots, attachment, pride, and a reason for being. Fribourg represents a region, a country, pride, and a reason for being. Terroir Fribourg—our association, your association—strives to promote this magnificent Fribourg region as much as its origins, its traditions, its artisans, and its products of excellence.

Fribourg is brimming with exceptional products; with six products holding the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status, our canton is the Swiss champion of AOP. Furthermore, with approximately 1,000 products certified “Fribourg – regio.garantie,” our canton proves itself to be a major agricultural and agrifood hub in our country.

All these products carry a tradition that continues to be honored by marvelous artisans. These producers are proud of their work, they innovate, and they can rely on many chefs to bring out the very best in their creations.

We are proud and grateful to be able to count on the Amis du Terroir (Friends of the Terroir) to continue sharing our pride in this local heritage and in Fribourg itself.
