What are you looking for?

The aim of the Association pour la Promotion des Produits du Terroir du Pays de Fribourg is to undertake, coordinate and support appropriate measures to promote quality agricultural products from Fribourg. We are responsible for measures to promote agricultural products within the meaning of cantonal legislation.

Our three areas of activity

Raw materials

In the canton of Fribourg, raw materials are rich and varied, coming from the fertile soil worked with passion by the canton’s farmers. Milk, cereals, fruit and vegetables, as well as vineyards and livestock, form the basis for the production of excellent local products.

Transformation

Once the raw material has been extracted, human hands play a decisive role in the manufacture of local products. In Fribourg, the ancestral know-how of craftsmen and industrialists has enabled much of the processing to remain local, maintaining jobs and creating added value. Traditional recipes are still used today, as demonstrated by the many Bénichon products and the production of dairy specialities.

Products

Compound products are the end result of the production chain. The quality of the product depends directly on the raw material chosen and the processing followed. Thanks to this know-how, handed down from generation to generation, the canton’s processors and artisans are able to offer quality products that are recognised by the ‘Fribourg – regio.garantie’ label and by Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) for 6 of them: Gruyère PDO, Vacherin Fribourgeois PDO, Poire à Botzi PDO, Cuchaule PDO, Boutefas PDO and Jambon de la Borne PDO.


In particular, our aim is to

  • Promote products mainly outside the canton
  • Promote sales of agricultural, food and processed products from Fribourg
  • Organise regular events and activities in line with the association’s aims and consumer demand, aiming to create or maintain synergies with other similar projects
  • Developing public relations for the products it promotes
  • Providing information and documentation
  • Representing the association, its activities and its members to partners and third parties
  • Coordinating the supply of Fribourg agricultural products at events

Any individual, legal entity or commercial company that so requests and whose activity is linked to the production and promotion of local products from Fribourg may be admitted as a member of the Association pour la Promotion des Produits du Terroir du Pays de Fribourg.
