Presentation
At the Widmer family bakery in St. Antoni, baking is a true family affair — it's almost as if a hereditary gene compels each generation to delight the region. In 1982, Hugo took over the Widmer bakery from his father, alongside his wife Béatrice. Hugo Widmer didn’t just pass on his passion and baking secrets to his son; since the early 1980s, he has also trained around thirty apprentices. The Widmer family offers their customers about twenty varieties of bread, along with pastries and ice cream. But Hugo Widmer's true specialty is the famous Seisler Brätzle — savory Singine-style bricelets, each individually cooked using a traditional iron. Producing the bakery’s 10,000 Brätzle per year is a meticulous and patient craft, one that was recognized with a gold medal at the Swiss Bakery Trophy.
