The History of the Confrérie de la Poire à Botzi
Following the decision by the Federal Office for Agriculture in 2007 to register the Poire à Botzi in its official list of Protected Designations of Origin (AOC), a provisional committee was formed to establish the Confrérie de la Poire à Botzi. The brotherhood was officially founded at the constitutive assembly held on November 3, 2008, in Guin. On this occasion, the founding members outlined the goals of the new association in a charter.
The mission of the Confrérie de la Poire à Botzi is to promote, by all appropriate means, the Poire à Botzi, its designated AOP growing region, and the identity of its production; to support and encourage the production and improvement of the Poire à Botzi; and to promote its use in all forms — fresh consumption, incorporation into cooked dishes, and in derivative products such as vin cuit, brandy, and more.
