The Cave de Chambaz, founded in 1972 by Gilbert & Francis Chautems, is a 4-hectare estate located in Môtier in the heart of the Vully vineyards of Fribourg. The vineyard benefits from good exposure to the sun and mild temperatures from Lake Morat. The clay-limestone and sandy soil is ideal for growing the indigenous Chasselas grape variety, as well as a wide range of other grape varieties, including Pinot-Noir, Garanoir, Chardonnay and Traminer. Since 2016, the estate's 4 hectares have been farmed entirely biodynamically. The products used to treat the vines are of natural origin (sulphur and copper) and are supplemented by herbal teas (nettle and osier) and decoctions (horsetail). In 2011, Domaine de Chambaz SA became the property of the Simonet family, who work the land and make the wine. The Quartenoud family, owners of Alloboissons SA in Givisiez, are responsible for the administration of the estate and sales throughout Switzerland. Francis is responsible for sales at the Domaine in Môtier and will be delighted to welcome you to the cellar to discover the different wines produced.
