Presentation
The Schmutz family has been cultivating vines for over 150 years. It was in 1900 that great-great-grandfather Auguste Schmutz bought the family home in Praz and began making wine. In 1963, ‘Auguste Schmutz & fils’ was founded, followed in 1967 by "Les fils de A. Schmutz". At that time, 80,000 to 90,000 litres of wine were produced each year. From 1977 until 2001, Alexandre Schmutz took over the business under his own name. He then handed it over to his son, Sébastien Schmutz, who founded the S.A. "A. Schmutz & Fils". Since 2012, the company has been known as Schmutz Vins SA. Today, the family continues to cellar and market the harvest from 15 hectares, of which 6 hectares are farmed in-house.
