The Gâteau du Vully (Vully tart) is a regional specialty that nearly every homemaker in the Vully area knows how to prepare—though there are several variations of the recipe. Originally baked during festivals and special occasions, this cake was traditionally cooked in communal bread ovens. Today, bakeries produce it year-round, as it is highly popular among tourists visiting the Lake Murten and Vully region. While it may resemble other cream cakes, the Gâteau du Vully should not be confused with more widely known versions like the "Murtner Nidlekuchen" offered by certain bakeries and pastry shops.
