The "Gottéron" cheese, originating from the Sarine district, has a mild taste and a very fine texture. For a bit of history, the agricultural institute of Grangeneuve began producing this cheese as early as 1978. Its name comes partly from the Gottéron Valley and partly from the local hockey club, HC Fribourg Gottéron. Gottéron cheese has a mild, clean, yet subtle taste, slightly tangy, which becomes more pronounced with aging (between 6 to 8 weeks). It is available year-round and pairs wonderfully with a cheese platter. It can also be enjoyed as raclette cheese or served as an appetizer with multigrain bread.
