The first wheel of "Mont-Vully" was created in 1994 at the Cressier cheese dairy. Its creator, Mr. Edwald Schafer, is a certified cheesemaker from Grangeneuve and an agricultural engineer trained in Zollikofen. What makes "Mont-Vully" unique is that this semi-hard cheese has a rind that is washed and rubbed with Pinot Noir from the Vully region. The grape clusters engraved on the rind serve as a reminder that the Mont-Vully hill lies just 7.5 kilometers from Cressier as the crow flies.
