The only vineyard in the canton of Fribourg located on the southern shore of Lake Neuchâtel benefits from a very favorable microclimate and stretches across the villages of Cheyres, Châbles, and Font. The adjacent nature reserve is notable for its tall vertical molasse cliffs overlooking the marshes. The "Crottes de Cheyres" (not to be confused with "grottes" or caves, though the mix-up is quite common)—meaning the cliffs along the region—also protect the vines from the bise wind. Finally, the lake’s proximity ensures mild winters.
