Preparation
Cut the potatoes into large cubes and cook them in salted water.
Mash them with the butter, cream, salt, and nutmeg to make a smooth purée.
Butter a gratin dish and spread half of the mashed potatoes in it.
Using a spoon, form small wells in the purée and crack an egg into each one. Cover with the remaining mashed potatoes, sprinkle with grated Gruyère AOP or Vacherin Fribourgeois AOP, and bake in a hot oven for 15 minutes.
Tips !
- You can mix diced bacon into the mashed potatoes for extra flavor.
