The Nativity Trail offers a magical stroll through the medieval streets of Estavayer-le-Lac. For its 30th edition, the event embraces the theme “Nativity Scenes of Light”, inviting visitors to discover installations where the magic of illumination enhances the traditional representation of the Nativity.
Along a poetic route through the town, visitors and residents can admire the nativity scenes displayed in the open air, showcasing the creativity and uniqueness of each installation. Illuminated windows and shop displays become beautiful showcases for the characters that bring these warm and luminous scenes to life.
Organized by the Tourism Office, this enchanting winter event highlights both budding and experienced artists. Shopkeepers and local residents enthusiastically take part each year, helping to make this unique event shine.

- Walking visit: free access and self-guided, with no predefined route.
- Tourist train visit: departure from Place du Midi, tour of approximately 45 minutes. Prices are listed under the “Prices” section. Cash payment only. The CHF 5.– ticket can be exchanged for a drink in participating partner restaurants.
- Map & brochure: available at the Tourist Office, Place des Bastians 1 in Estavayer-le-Lac. If closed, brochures are available outside in self-service.
- Access: CFF train station approx. 7 minutes on foot from the Tourist Office.

- Accessibility: route mostly accessible for strollers and people with reduced mobility. Cobblestone and slightly steep sections in places.
- Recommended visiting time: late afternoon or evening to fully enjoy the illuminations, while remaining accessible at any time.
