In an era of sustainability, Switzerland stands for respect for resources and the environment.
In its new tourism strategy, Switzerland Tourism is positioning the country as a sustainable destination.
As a consequence, many of the country’s tourism providers have signed up to the aims of sustainable development. The Swisstainable label sends out a clear signal in this respect. By earning the label, the tourism industry associations are demonstrating their commitment to a more sustainable development of Switzerland as a travel destination.
Estavayer-le-Lac Region is pulling out all the stops to find a harmonious balance between respect for the environment and the needs of visitors and the resident population. The Swisstainable label promises a visitor experience that’s fully sustainable. The Grande Cariçaie nature reserve and the efforts made in the realm of soft mobility have enabled our tourism region to gain the label.
The sustainability programme is composed of three levels that represent the criteria and degree of commitment. Estavayer-le-Lac Region has achieved level I of the label thanks to its endeavours in terms of sustainable development and soft mobility. The goal for the coming years is to qualify for level II, the aim being to promote the tourism offer and the ecological opportunities – in their broadest sense – in the Broye.
