From September 12th to 14th, celebrate Bénichon in the heart of Fribourg with La Bénichon sarinoise en ville.
Every autumn, the city of Fribourg and the surrounding Sarine district come together to celebrate the “Bénichon”. From September 12th to 14th, 2025, locals and visitors alike are invited to experience the finest of our culinary, craft, and musical traditions in an inviting and genuine setting. This event is a true rendezvous for the Sarine district and celebrates the richness of our terroir and the spirit of sharing that characterizes our region.

The city of Fribourg will be the scene of a host of activities and entertainment:
- A traditional canteen with seating for around 200 is set up on Place Georges Python and is open Friday evening and Saturday for lunch and dinner. On Sunday, the full Bénichon menu is served by reservation.

- A local produce market is held on Rue de Romont and Place Georges Python on Saturday and Sunday (50 exhibitors)

- Many of the town’s restaurants offer the Bénichon menu, providing an opportunity to experience the convivial and authentic atmosphere of the event.

- From 6 p.m. : Dance with the JMNJ orchestra

- 1 p.m. : Quatuor Frib’Or – traditional songs from Fribourg

“La Bénichon d’Ecuvillens”
In partnership with TPF, you can experience both the Bénichon d’Écuvillens and the Benichon in the City on the same day, thanks to the complimentary shuttle service between the two events. Hop aboard a vintage 1953 bus and check out the programs for both events. There will be a craft market, a Benichon menu, and musical entertainment. Don’t miss the famous pig race, big raffle, Ecuvillens funfair, farm in town, and Benichon in the City ball!
