From September 12th to 14th, celebrate Bénichon in the heart of Fribourg with La Bénichon sarinoise en ville.

Every autumn, the city of Fribourg and the surrounding Sarine district come together to celebrate the “Bénichon”. From September 12th to 14th, 2025, locals and visitors alike are invited to experience the finest of our culinary, craft, and musical traditions in an inviting and genuine setting. This event is a true rendezvous for the Sarine district and celebrates the richness of our terroir and the spirit of sharing that characterizes our region.

The city of Fribourg will be the scene of a host of activities and entertainment:

  • A traditional canteen with seating for around 200 will be set up on Place Georges Python. Guests can enjoy part or all of the Bénichon menu in a festive atmosphere. The canteen will be open Friday evening and Saturday for lunch and dinner. On Sunday, the festivities continue with the option to taste the full Bénichon menu by reservation at noon. (Online reservations and payment on site)
  • A local produce market will be held on Rue de Romont and Place Georges Python on Saturday and Sunday. There will be numerous stalls featuring local exhibitors from the communes of the Sarine district, who will showcase the region’s gastronomic and craft riches.
  • There will be music and folklore all weekend long, including concerts, folk groups, and street entertainment.
  • The farm will allow people of all ages to discover the small livestock of our region at Place Georges Python. It will also offer activities for children.
