Archives de l'État de Fribourg: preservation and access to official documents to preserve history and inform the public.
The Fribourg State Archives, established in the mid-18th century, has preserved documents relating to the region since the Middle Ages. They offer a wide range of services, including archiving and advice to third parties, document conservation and restoration, and making documents available for consultation and publication. They also provide personalized support for customers and promote the value of archival holdings. Finally, they receive donations and archival deposits to enrich their collections.

Guided tours
On request, the Archives can organize guided tours for groups. When booking, please specify whether you would like a general tour or one on a special topic (e.g. medieval archives, contemporary archives, archives concerning a particular commune, etc.).
Requests can be made in writing or by telephone.
Information about the facility
Places in the reading room and conference room must be reserved in advance by telephone or e-mail.
Capacity: 5 places in the reading room, 3 places in the microfilm room. Full-day and half-day reservations available.
Document orders: ideally by 4.30pm the day before by e-mail.
Personal equipment required (pencil, paper).
Leave bags and jackets in the checkroom (deposit: 2 CHF).
Prefer photographs to photocopies.
