The theme of this year's European Heritage Days is “Stories of architecture. From the Roman villa to the Roman Museum of Vallon”. The event highlights various cultural sites in different regions that are linked to this theme. In our region, a specific cultural site is being highlighted to represent this idea.
The Roman Museum in Vallon is inviting visitors to discover the links and exchanges between the vast country house and Roman culture.
The two extraordinary mosaics, for example, are emblematic of the acculturation to the Roman way of life, both as a form of architectural ornamentation and in the choice of subjects depicted.
The statuettes in the rich lararium, meanwhile, bear witness to the various religious beliefs that coexisted in the Roman Empire and in our regions.
Not forgetting the hundred or so objects on display, illustrating the trade, technology and art of the period.
