An immersive journey into prehistory
The lakeside village of Gletterens takes visitors back in time with a faithful reconstruction of a prehistoric settlement. Situated on the lakeside of Lake Neuchâtel, it provides an insight into the way of life of the first farmers who occupied the region between 4500 and 800 BC.
Open from early May to late October, this historic site offers visitors the chance to explore thatched-roof dwellings, watch craft demonstrations and take part in a range of interactive workshops. Tool making, fire lighting, assegai throwing and many other activities give visitors a better understanding of the daily lives of prehistoric societies.
For the full experience, you can also extend the adventure by spending the night in teepees or Mesolithic shelters.
