St. John's Church
The church of St-Jean was consecrated as early as 1264, when it was no more than a modest chapel. It was built on the initiative of the Hospitallers of St John, later known as the Knights of Malta. The Maltese cross, still clearly visible in the church and on the ironwork and facades of the parish church, bears witness to the influence of these Knights, who were at the origin of our parish community. The first chapel of the Hospitallers of St John became a place of gathering and prayer for the Christians of La Planche and La Neuveville, the new districts that were gradually springing up along the Sarine. The church has undergone many transformations over the centuries. The choir is the only remaining part of the original chapel.
