Alain Monney, 2016
The foundation APCd presented this work of art extra muros within its exhibition „Mobili-té-tät-tà-ty“. The Poteau Patriotique of Alain Monney refers to ten directions and places based on Swiss names. Its inauguration takes place on the 1st of August in form of an official as well as entertaining ceremony in front of the college of design (eikon). Juxtaposed, these names of places are the outcome of an official double twist (the public road and the homeland) and together they give phonetically the words of the national anthem of Switzerland.
“Art, humor, songs, rules, fatherland, what is the priority? Should we count on the map, the territory or the signpost?” Artist, walker, actor and man of media - from Geneva - Alain Monney pursues his work as a land surveyor and topographer since 1995.
The foundation APCd presents this work of art extra muros within its summer exhibition „Mobili-té-tät-tà-ty“, a commemoration of the 25th date of death of Jean Tinguely. The exhibition is a reflection on the multifaceted issues of movement and mobility.
