With an area of 410 ha, the municipality of Bossonnens is located in the far south of the canton of Fribourg and is part of the district of Veveyse. A part of its perimeter is also along the border with the canton of Vaud.
Bossonnens enjoys an ideal location as it is situated at the centre of several major communication routes and is therefore close to several large towns such as Lausanne, Vevey, Bulle and Fribourg. The presence of a train station, as well as the direct proximity to Palézieux-Gare, allows for easy and quick access to the railway network of the CFF and TPF. The motorway entrances at Vaulruz, Chatel-St-Denis, Vevey, Chexbres and Belmont are all located within 15 minutes.
A restaurant, the former Hôtel de la Gare, and a tea room located in a new rental complex that also houses the municipal administration, the post office, and various shops and services constitute the new focal point of the village.
