One of the most recent Marian caves in the canton hosts a theatrical living nativity performance every Christmas Eve.
The Plasselb cave is a sanctuary in nature. In 1995, a resident recalled that shepherds sought refuge under a rock overhanging the river Gérine. He gathered a group of volunteers who created this oratory. The cave was blessed in 1997.
The figures of the Virgin Mary and Bernadette, in a niche cut to their size, as well as a large crucifix resting on a rocky plateau as though it had grown there, are the work of local wood sculptor Ernest Ruffieux.
During the Christmas period, a nativity scene is installed in a real miniature cave under the cliff. And every 24 December, the local theatre troupe performs the Nativity scene for a large audience. A newborn lies in the manger, and live animals join the performance.
