Tourism in Schwarzsee
Around the year 1750, the first spa with its own sulphur spring was built in Schwarzsee, opposite today’s Hotel Bad, which marked the beginning of the touristic development of the region.
Today Schwarzsee and its surroundings are a popular and well-known holiday and excursion destination, not least because of the varied walking trail around the lake or the well marked and maintained mountain and hiking trails. The Breccaschlund nature reserve is a national heritage site. The role played by glaciers in creating the landscape is clear at first glance. The limestone cliffs, whose white teeth stretch up to the sky, above the luxuriant greenery of the Alpine pastures, are particularly magical.
Not only in summer, but also in winter the Schwarzsee is a jewel. In addition to skiing in the Riggisalp-Kaiseregg ski area, the frozen lake is extremely popular for skating or strolling in a unique panorama. In the surrounding area, peaks can be climbed with ski and snowshoe hikes in all difficulties.
