Alpine huts
It is not only animals who like to spend the summer on the alp. Fresh air, a relaxed atmosphere, breathtaking scenery and plenty of sunshine: the Alpine huts combine all these advantages with the opportunity to enjoy or buy local products to take home.
Herd guard
Hiking trails lead from time to time over pastures. When entering pastures, it is therefore essential to pay attention to the animals – cattle, sheep, herd protection dogs and others – and their behaviour. As a hiker, if one observes the basic rules, any encounters between humans and animals should be peaceful. Use the map to find out where you can find herds protected by dogs.
Cows with calves
How cute these calves are, standing in the middle of the cow herd near the hiking trail! This would almost make you forget that you go into their territory when you approach them or even want to stroke them. Suckler cows, which can weigh up to 600 kilos, defend their offspring against any perceived attack. Cattle (calves, cows and bulls) are increasingly found on pastures due to barn and open-air farming.
