Some rules of conduct must be followed when encountering livestock guardian dogs.
From April 22 to May 23, 2025, operational readiness checks for livestock guardian dogs will be conducted in the region.
If you encounter livestock guardian dogs, please walk around the group, stay calm, behave neutrally (do not threaten or try to befriend the dogs), get off your bicycle, and especially avoid crossing a herd protected by guardian dogs if you are accompanied by a pet dog. If a guardian dog barks at you near its flock, please give it enough time to calm down again.
Warning signs for livestock guardian dogs will be posted along access routes to the testing areas during the checks. If no signs are present, it means that no checks are taking place on that alp at the time. This helps you avoid unpleasant encounters and makes it easier for the dogs to protect the herd.
