Number 5 of the historical tour
The Boyer Tower was built in the 13th century. Shortly afterwards, a complete defensive system was installed, transforming it into a small castle. In the 19th century, it was bought at auction by a certain Mr. Boyer who wanted to use the stones for other constructions. The town repurchased the building before he could carry out his project, but the tower kept his name! The esplanade is an attractive play area for children.
The Boyer Tower is an imposing monument: its walls are 3.10 m thick at the base and 2.60 m thick at the top, some 38 meters above the ground!
