The Vitromusée Romont, located within Romont Castle, reveals the rich diversity of glass art through its collection of stained glass, reverse glass paintings, glass objects and even tools and materials.
The Vitromusée has an exceptional collection of STAINED GLASS dating from the Middle Ages to now, together with REVERSE GLASS PAINTING.
A WORKSHOP houses an exhibition of glass painters’ tools and regularly offers demonstrations and introductions to glass art.
The GLASS SECTION recounts the history of glass - so omnipresent in our everyday lives - from ancient times to the 20th century, highlighting both artistic and technical features. Works from the Saint-Prex art glass works together with a collection of blown, moulded and pressed glasses are on show.
A VIRTUAL GALLERY, in partnership with the Centro Studi del Vetro de Venise, presents historic photographs of glass objects from the Seguso Vetri d'Arte workshop. In addition, films from the Corning Museum of Glass (CMOG) reveal the fascinating technique of glass blowing.
Themed exhibitions highlight the diversity of contemporary glass work and some lesser-known aspects of the world of glassmaking.
The Vitromusée, which has been awarded “Musée Joyeux” (family-friendly) certification by the Môm'Art association, welcomes CHILDREN with creative activities and fun tours, as well as discovery afternoons.
It also offers GUIDED TOURS and DEMONSTRATIONS for groups. There are further details on the Information page of the website.
